The sheriff's department is proud to nominate corporal Chris Bolyard of the
patrol division for recognition by the Nampa Optimist's International Club
for outstanding law enforcement service. He was voted by his peers to
receive the 1999 Officer of The Year Award at the sheriff's department
annual awards banquet held in January of this year. Corporal Bolyard has been employed by the county since October of 1994, serving as a detention officer until transferring to the patrol division in November, 1997. He finished in the top 10% of his Idaho POST Academy class, and received his Intermediate POST Certificate in October of 1998. Deputy Bolyard was promoted to the rank of corporal in September of 1999 to serve as the liaison officer to the Canyon County Sheriff's Reserves. In that capacity, he is responsible for the training and scheduling of 20 active reserve deputies who supplement law enforcement services throughout the county. Chris is acutely aware of his role as a law enforcement officer, and can be relied upon to respond to every kind of emergency call fully prepared to deal professionally with any situation. He conveys that quality to his subordinates, peers, supervisors, and the public he serves. He also writes some of the best reports in the department, completely and accurately documenting every case for presentation to the prosecutor's office and courts when necessary. Corporal Bolyard is very deserving of the credit given him by his peers, and I am pleased to recommend him for the award you have suggested. Sincerely, George W. Nourse Canyon County Sheriff |
