Community efforts need extra help

It’s a busy time. Volunteerism abounds. Fund-raising gets an extra push. And your help is needed. So we take this opportunity to salute those who have done so much -- and promote some of the activities that need an extra boost.

NAMPA -- If you’re hungry for steak and potatoes and you want to help youth football, plan to buy lunch at the Outback Steakhouse on Karcher Road in Nampa today between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
The Nampa Optimists are raising money for the Optimist Park, located behind Vallivue’s newest elementary school -- Birch Elementary. The football park will feature seven football fields. The fields will be shared by 25 to 30 teams of kids ages seven to 12. Seven- and 8-year-olds will play flag football and 9- to 12-year-olds will play tackle football. Both boys and girls can play football.
The Outback is normally closed for lunch, but this fund-raiser special will cost you just $10 for chicken, steak and the trimmings. Tickets are available at the door.
To offer your help to the effort, contact Kenny Wroten at 467-5797 or Ken Wilson at 880-1099.
